Masterclass for International Women's Day: From Challenge Comes Change
Event Information
About this Event
Through Kris' powerful story, this masterclass will reflect on the power of mindset, the NZBWN network and resilience to overcome challenges. You’ll have the opportunity to share your personal challenges and together we will develop tools so we can confidently Choose to Challenge and bring positive change.
The session will be interactive so please come prepared to participate with your camera on.
About our host Kristine Chadwick:
Kris is a Kiwi who has settled in the UK. She writes, blogs and speaks about living well with cancer. She started blogging whilst caring for her late husband, Matthew Chadwick who lived with an incurable brain tumour for 18 years.
When Matt’s brain tumour took a turn for the worse Kris found her role of wife turning into that of a carer. Alongside caring for Matt, she decided to turn obstacles into challenges and started raising awareness of brain tumours by fundraising for Brain Tumour UK. She entered every charity challenge going, from the London Marathon to sky diving.
In 2018 Kris was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer so she renamed the blog Chadders Cancer Club. Having a unique perspective of what it’s like to both care for and live with cancer, she blogs about cancer care, living well with cancer and her passion, globetrotting.
Kris facilitates change and resilience sessions for colleagues at King’s College London and is a Macmillan Campaign Champion.
Join Kris as she draws on her incredible story and resilience, as she helps us focus our mindset to #ChooseToChallenge.
About International Women's Day:
International Women's Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. Proudly celebrating it’s 110 year anniversary - with the first IWD event held exactly 110 years ago in 1911 in Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland. More than one million women and men attended IWD rallies campaigning for women's rights to work, vote, be trained, to hold public office and end discrimination. The International Women’s Day theme for 2021 is #ChooseToChallenge. A challenged world is an alert world. Individually, we're all responsible for our own thoughts and actions - all day, every day. We can choose to challenge and call out gender bias and inequity. We can choose to seek out and celebrate women's achievements. Collectively, we can all help create an inclusive world. From challenge comes change, so let's all choose to challenge.
