Event description
A workshop that centres on listening as both an auditory and bodily act - a listening into oneself and to others.

About this Event

Location: Workstation, Conference Room 2

Taking place as part of Black Arts World: Slate Weekender - a showcase of the new wave of Black* artists in the North.

A workshop that centres on listening as both an auditory and bodily act - a listening into oneself and to others. The session will include simple vocal meditations and visualisation exercises, interspersed with journaling and discussion. Nicola hopes the session can be considered for its personal, collective and potential political resonance.

Nicola Singh is an artist, researcher, a Teaching Fellow in Fine Art at Leeds University and an Arts Educator for BALTIC. With a practice rooted in performance and moving across disciplines, she extends ideas of performance to a practice of exhibition, object making, pedagogy and collective workshop practice. Central to Nicola’s practice is a critical engagement with contemporary art's relationship to race, feminisms and intersectionalities.
