Join us for this masterclass designed for housing providers looking to turn person-centred risk assessments into practical retrofit strategies - equipped with real-world tools, case studies, and lessons from those doing the work on the ground.

Event Overview

For housing associations and local authorities, ensuring residents are safe from fire risk - especially during retrofit - remains a vital but complex responsibility. As we strengthen our efforts to improve energy efficiency, comfort, and air quality, we must also understand how retrofit can inadvertently change fire risk - and what we can do about it.

This masterclass takes a fresh look at how fire safety planning needs to evolve, not just as a compliance exercise, but as an integral part of creating healthier homes. Delivered in partnership with AICO and Plumis, the session provides practical insights into how housing providers can translate risk assessments into action, align detection and suppression strategies with individual needs, and make the case for innovation that prioritises people.

Whether you’re developing retrofit strategies, delivering compliance programmes, or looking to ensure that retrofit enhances safety as well as health, this session is an opportunity to challenge assumptions and learn from others navigating the same balancing act.

Agenda Highlights

  • Understanding fire risk in retrofit: what changes and why it matters
  • Awareness of practical retrofit options that reduce disruption: including property archetypes, layout, height and other key design considerations
  • Real world case studies
  • Discussion: reflections from installers, compliance leads and residents
  • Q&A: an open space for questions on policy, tech, or operational delivery
