Event description

Description

Masters of Ballet Academy (MOBA) are delighted to present 2 performances of ballet and live music in an open-air recital on Turnham Green, Chiswick on Saturday 22 June 2019. The idea of this special event is to make ballet fully accessible to Chiswick and West London residents.

The first performance will be of Cipollino, a ballet choreographed by Elena Glurjidze (ex-Principal Ballerina of the English National Ballet) and Olga Semenova (English National Ballet Teacher) for children which premiered at Sadler's Wells in February 23/24 2019. The second performance will be a fusion of ballet and classical song. Together, Luci de Nordwall Cornish, soprano, and dancers from MOBA will perform works including Faure, Poulenc, Handel, Cole Porter, and Gershwin. The piece by Handel is set to “What Passions Cannot Music Quell or Raise” choreographed by Wayne Eagling (also a resident of Chiswick) and other pieces will be choreographed by Elena. Luci also lives in Chiswick and sang recently at the 2018 Bedford Park Festival and LoveMusic in Chiswick.

MOBA is a recently established dance school located in the grounds of Club des Sports in Acton, West London, and was founded by Elena and Olga. Young dancers leaving the Masters of Ballet Academy go on, at the time of writing, to White Lodge, The Royal Ballet, Central School of Ballet, Amsterdam Dance Conservatoire, Sydney Ballet Conservatoire, The Bolshoi Ballet.........AND have just been invited to perform at the Hermitage Museum in St Petersburg for a special gala!
