Interweaving environmental sound recordings including those from within water bodies, soils and plant matter, Materials Unknown serves as a prompt to consider our innate desire to name and prescribe meaning to our world, while celebrating the capacity for our sonic imaginations to conjure our own interpretation of sounds on the periphery of understanding.

Following the sold out openning we invite you to join us for a second listening session, drinks and conversation. We are hosting three timeslots, inviting small groups to join the intimiate sound experience. Please book your timeslot in advance, and let us know if you can't make it as we'll release for more guests. Please note the artist will not be in attendance but we encourage personal reflections via online platforms.

Materials Unknown will be showing until 8 August as part of Microscope's summer programme exploring contemporary practices of landscape and ecology, and as a special extension of their Echolocation sound-and-place series. View by appointment by emailing microscope@periscope.uk, drop in Mon-Fri 10-6 (ring the Periscope doorbell).
