Maternity Engagement - what we do and why we do it
Event Information
Description
Did you know that infant deaths in the British-Pakistani community are almost double those of the national average?
Or that almost a third of new-mothers attribute their mental health problems to how they were treated during birth?
Or why more women are being encouraged to give birth outside of hospital?
Come and find out more at this fun, informative and interactive session with the Maternity Engagement Team.
The Maternity Engagement Team works with local communities to continually strive towards improvement in local maternity services for all women and their families.
We will introduce you to current key concepts in public health, maternity care, and the national East London maternity strategy. We will report on our findings from speaking to 100s of women each year about their births in Tower Hamlets, Newham and Waltham Forest, and describe how we work for a time when pregnancy and birth is a time of empowerment and joy for all women and their families.
