Event description
A discussion event on the most pertinent and pressing issues related to maternity and shared parental leave policy in the UK.

About this event

The GW4 network on Maternity leave in the UK brings together academics from a range of disciplines at four UK Universities (Bath, Bristol, Exeter and Cardiff).

We have set out to comprehensively analyse the impact of maternity leave and shared leave policies in the UK on career progression and wellbeing of women across different sectors. Our research stems from current work analysing interesting patterns in academia and differences in maternity leave uptake between academic and professional staff. We would like to widen our analysis into other sectors with the dual purpose to understand employers and employee perspectives and to motivate future research into maternity leave as a potential leveller for reducing the percieved gender gap in career progression.

For this work to be of benefit to society, we would like to engage with those who have first -hand experience of the policies in practice. We want to hear your views.

We need your help to shape our research so that it addresses questions and provides right solutions to the challenges families, employers, and policymakers face in relation to family friendly policies.

The event will take place across two sessions (Monday, 10am and Friday, 10am). You are encouraged to attend both.
