About this event

Audience: School Leader, Teacher

Subject: Maths

Years: Y1, Y2, Y3, Y4, Y5, Y6, Primary

How can we adapt so that the majority of pupils progress at broadly the same pace when pupils are tackling problem solving activities? What strategies, approaches and representations are more powerful in enabling some pupils to access problems, and which work best for deepening other pupils’ understanding?

In this session, we exemplify what adaptation looks like with a range of problem solving questions. We will consider how we can ensure pupils who may struggle have an avenue into the same questions as their peers, while providing opportunities for deepening thinking for others who grasp ideas more quickly. During the session, we will consider how pupils’ work demonstrates the outcomes of adaptive teaching.
