What are barriers to raising the mathematics attainment of GCSE pupils?
Aims of the course:
The aim of the workshop series is to allow participants to reflect on models for learning mathematics that foster deep, relational understanding of mathematics. Participants will have the opportunity to develop their understanding of effective mathematics pedagogy, leading to higher attainment and achievement.
Key Stage 4 Teachers.
This Course will address the essential skills and practice to:
Support the development of the mastery curriculum within key Stage 4;
Explore possible strategies for supporting children’s development in mathematics in Key stage 4;
Discuss and reflect on your own practice in light of recent research in Key Stage 4 mathematics.
You will leave with:
An understanding of the emotional and cultural aspects of learning mathematics;
Practical strategies to develop pupils’ connections within and between concepts using images, physical learning models and reasoning;
A knowledge of current issues within Key stage 4 mathematics education.
