Maths Puzzles Tea Party
Event Information
About this Event
Enjoy a tea party with a twist - puzzles and problem-solving alongside your pot of tea. Join puzzle fans/mathematicians Katie Steckles and Ben Sparks for a brain-teasing selection of mathematical puzzles, themed around everything from cutting a cake to pouring the perfect cuppa - with plenty of hints and clues if you get stuck.
The tea party will be conducted over Zoom, with interactive puzzles and chances to work on things amongst yourselves - so get everyone gathered around the screen, and encourage your friends to sign up too! If you'll have multiple participants watching from the same computer, you only need to book one ticket.
The session will last two hours, but there'll be plenty of tea breaks. Make sure you have a pen and paper handy - but you'll have to supply your own tea and cake!
The content of the workshop is suitable for ages 10+, but any under-16s watching must be accompanied by an adult in the room. Our code of conduct for the session can be found here.
This event is free, with optional donations - both Ben and Katie are freelance, and if you're in a position to make a donation to support their work communicating maths (and to cover the attendance of those who can't afford to pay), that would be much appreciated.
If you're not sure how much to donate, we suggest you think about how much you'd normally pay for a ticket to something on an evening - like a trip to the cinema or a comedy show - so, maybe £5-10, or whatever you think it's worth. There will be the opportunity to make or increase your donation at the end of the event, even if you book a free ticket now.
