This is a half day am session with no lunch provided

Audience: Year 6 teachers + 2 children / Subject Leaders

Course Outline

2 children and their teacher will be provided with a range of activities to challenge their thinking. Teachers will be provided with prompts to support the children in developing their reasoning and problem solving skills during the session. Children will be given the chance to evaluate their methods and explanations with other children in their group and to think about how they might use what they have learnt to tackle other similar problems back in school. Teachers will be provided with another activitiy to take back to school to use with their class prior to session 2.

Course Outcomes

Children have had the opportunity to tackle activities provided by First4Maths that will challenge them to work at Greater Depth. Teachers/Subject Leaders have had the opportunity to work with their children and challenge them at Greater Depth with support of the First4Maths consultant. The children and teachers have the opportunity to trial activities back at school using the strategies provided during the session.
