About this event

Family & Education • Education

This session is designed especially for supply workers in primary schools who need quick, effective maths activities at short notice.

Led by Lynwen Barnsley, the workshop will introduce a variety of simple, engaging ideas that require minimal resources and can be easily adapted for different ages and abilities.

You’ll discover a toolbox of flexible activities including:

  • Starters and warm-up tasks
  • Open-ended problems to spark curiosity
  • Fun maths games
  • Conversation prompts that encourage mathematical thinking

By the end of the session, you’ll feel more confident walking into any primary classroom with a bank of maths activities that are both meaningful and manageable.

Who is this session for?

  • Supply workers in primary schools
  • Educators looking for adaptable, ready-to-use maths ideas

Lynwen Barnsley has many years’ experience of providing mathematics training and support for primary schools. Before beginning work as an independent consultant, she was Maths Adviser with the City and County of Swansea. She now provides bespoke mathematics training for schools, training courses with Collective Learning and works as a consultant for Numicon.

Lynwen’s training courses focus on the why and how of teaching mathematics, providing practical ideas and approaches that ensure learners “make sense” of maths and develop as independent mathematical thinkers.

🎥 This session will be recorded and available to view for 7 days after the event.

Please note: You must register to receive the recording — even if you can’t attend live.
