Hosted at the Dundee Botanic Gardens, this new activity from the Leverhulme Research Centre for Forensic Science at the University of Dundee challenges pupils to solve a fictitious wildlife crime using real-world forensic science techniques and mathematical thinking.
Working alongside expert scientists, students will explore the gardens and find out how maths is used to investigate wildlife crime, develop key problem-solving skills, and see first-hand how STEM subjects connect to real careers.
This engaging session offers a unique cross-curricular opportunity to bring STEM learning to life, spark curiosity, and inspire future pathways in science and mathematics.
We anticipate the activity will take around 90 minutes per group to complete. Please indicate your preferred time slot when booking a ticket.
There are some funds available to support transport. Please indicate this on your form. We will endeavour to support as many schools as we can but this funding is limited so please only apply if you really need the funding.
This event was supported by funding from Maths Week Scotland.
Places are limited — early booking is recommended.
