MATLAB Fundamentals Hands-on Workshop

In this workshop, you willl learn how MATLAB can be used to visualize and analyse data, perform numerical computations, and develop algorithms. Through live demonstrations and guided exercises, you will see how MATLAB can support the research and teaching tasks you are pursuing. This training is targeted specifically to those who are new to MATLAB.

What will you do at this workshop?

Attendees will be introduced to MATLAB Fundamentals and new usage choices that modern MATLAB provides (e.g.: Apps, the interactive desktop and “Live” scripts). During the workshop attendees will also get the opportunity to apply (practice) these concepts by doing a series of "hands on" exercises.

Some highlights include:

Accessing data from typical sources (e.g. EXCEL data files)
Using interactive tools for iterative exploration, design, and problem solving
Automating and capturing your work in easy-to-write scripts and programs
Sharing your results with others by automatically creating reports

The Presenter: Bradley Horton (MathWorks)

Bradley Horton is a member of the Academic Customer Success team at MathWorks, helping faculty members better utilise MATLAB and Simulink for education and research. Brad has supported and consulted for clients on projects in process control engineering, power systems simulation, military operations research, and earthquake impact modelling. Before joining MathWorks, He spent 5 years as a systems engineer with the Defence Science & Technology Organisation (DSTO) working as an operations research analyst. Bradley holds a B.Eng. in Mechanical engineering and a B.Sc. in Applied Mathematics.
