Overview: Strengthening, Showcasing and Sustaining Impact of Children’s Universities in Schools and Multi Academy Trusts

With schools and Multi Academy Trusts facing continued challenges from budget constraints and staff pressures to increasing demands on raising attainment, tackling inequalities, and supporting pupil wellbeing, Children’s Universities offer a powerful way to broaden horizons and create meaningful opportunities for learning beyond the classroom. By embedding enrichment and extracurricular activities, recognising achievement through graduations, and developing strong partnerships, MATs and schools are helping pupils gain skills and experiences that support both personal and academic growth.

At a time when government priorities highlight raising standards, closing gaps, and preparing young people for future life and work, this is the right moment to reflect on how Children’s Universities within MATs and schools can align with these priorities and demonstrate real impact.

During the session we will:

  • Explore how Children’s Universities within schools and MATs strengthen enrichment offers and contribute to whole-school improvement priorities.
  • Discuss how we can collectively make the case for Children’s Universities within education settings and how the Trust can support this through national messaging, partnerships, and sector engagement.

This meeting is an opportunity to shape a stronger shared story about the impact of Children’s Universities in schools and MATs, showcasing the difference they make to pupils, families, and communities.

All schools and Multi Academy Trusts running a Children’s University are warmly invited to join and contribute to this conversation.
