About this event

Arts • Fine Art

Join us this Sunday at The Globe (within Projects Brighton) for a relaxed daytime event with mixed media artist Emma de Polnay.

Emma is a British artist whose richly textured paintings and works on paper draw on her background in sculpture, set design, and life drawing. Her work is infused with theatricality, movement, and recurring motifs of flight, dance, and Greek mythology.

Inspired by her coastal home, Emma has cultivated a ritual of collecting fragments from the beach - both natural and man-made. These found treasures, combined with recycled papers, graphics, and traditional media, form layered compositions that explore transformation and renewal. Her practice is part treasure hunt, part beach clean, and always alchemy.

At Matter & Meaning, you’ll have the chance to:

✨ Watch Emma create live art in a studio-style setting
🌊 See projections of her process on the beach, collecting materials for her work
🖼️ View a selection of her original artworks up close
🍰 Enjoy tea, cake, and conversation in a calm, seaside-inspired atmosphere
🤲 Bring your own found beach objects to share with Emma. She may even weave them into her work!

Drop in anytime between 2-6pm, stay for as long as you like, and step into Emma’s world of art, transformation, and storytelling.

Date: Sunday 28th September
Time: 2pm-6pm
Location: The Globe at Projects Nile Street, Brighton
