The Maudsley Charity presents a day of activities to mark World Mental Health Day.

About this Event

The Maudsley Charity is funding a day of activity at the ORTUS to mark World Mental Health Day. The day is open to everyone: patients, staff and our local community.

WORKSHOPS

11am - 4pm, Pilowsky, Drop-In

Activities will run throughout the day, including the opportunity to take part in a banner-making art workshop with the Bethlem Gallery, historical object handling by Bethlem Museum and taster sessions provided by the Recovery College. All sessions are free and drop-ins unless stated otherwise, but please reserve your place with the ticket link above.

  • 11am - 4pm, Drop-In: Object Handling

Recovery College

  • 11am - 12pm, Ticketed: 'What is Peer Work and Why is it Good?' - coproduced and delivered by Pauline Edwards (Peer Recovery Trainer) and Rachel Eborall (Trust Lead for Peer Development and Deputy Head of Inclusion)
  • 12 - 3pm, Drop-In: Learn about the Recovery College and how it can support wellbeing
  • 3 - 4pm, Ticketed: Peer Learning Advice session for people who would like some help to make a study plan or ask questions about specific workshops

INFORMATION STALLS

11am - 4pm, Mezzanine, Drop-In

A wide range of Charity-funded projects will be on hand to talk about their work, sharing good practice and providing advice and information. This will include: Mind and Body (King's Health Partners), The Alchemy Project, Bethlem Royal Hospital Occupational Therapy, Cannabis Clinic, Healthlocker (SLaM), Re-Instate, Digi-Inclusion (SLaM), Mind and Soul Choir and The HYPE Project (HERON) among others.

FILM SCREENINGS

11am - 4pm, Connect, Drop-In

Films playing throughout the day include: Animated Stories of Postnatal Depression; Animated Minds; Walk This Way; Dementia Monologues; Brixton Reel; Mind the Gap: 17-25

4 - 5pm: Suicide Prevention strategy launch

Launch of the Trust’s new suicide prevention strategy and film.

5.15 - 7.30pm: Irene's Ghost film screening and panel discussion, Ticketed

An award-winning story of a son’s moving journey to understand his mother’s postpartum psychosis. Followed by a panel Discussion with Director Iain Cunningham, Kathryn Grant and Dr Trudi Seneviratne, chaired by Dr Nicola Byrne.
