Event description

Description

Welcome to the Maverick Original Oxforshire, starting from the beautiful Stonor Park. This is one of the oldest family estates still lived in today – but it’s no museum. As the oldest member of the Stonor family, the house has a thousand stories to tell.
As well as being architecturally fascinating each room contains a lifetime of experience and anecdotes. Discover art and treasures collected from across the globe and view historic maps and documents that reveal generations of service to the country. A stroll through this house is a vivid walk through history.
The route itself, keeping the theme running, is in The Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) which covers 324 square miles of countryside, stretching from the River Thames in southern Oxfordshire up through Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire to Hitchin in Hertfordshire. It is one of 38 AONB in England and Wales, which belong to the same family as National Parks. Its designation as an AONB in 1965 recognised that the Chiltern Hills contain some of the finest landscapes in the country which are worthy of protection at the highest level.
This location is ideal for city based trail runners with excellent transport links to nearby Henley-on-Thames. Put this on your list of fantastic trail runs for 2017 and become part of the Maverick family. Remember – the outdoors awaits…….
As with all Maverick events you can expect up to 3 on-course hydration outposts provided by Skratch Labs. There will also be prizes for the winners of each distance, male and female. This event is also dog friendly.
