About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour

We want the use of patient data to be as impactful as possible. While research using patient data is essential for better outcomes for people affected by cancer, it can be difficult to build and maintain public trust that their data will be used responsibly and securely.

This webinar will be a chance to learn about how to effectively involve and engage people affected by cancer and members of the public in your research. If done correctly, you can build vital trust and transparency in how patient data is used and reused in research and improve the quality and relevance of your work.

Matt Howard-Murray (Cancer Research UK, Public Involvement Lead Research Data Strategy) will introduce the new cancer data patient and public involvement community and how their feedback can help guide your work.

Harriet Unsworth (Cancer Research UK National Biomarker Centre), the lead of our public involvement and diversity community of special interest, will introduce her newly funded projects to develop and test solutions to improve cancer data diversity and increase patient engagement with children’s and young people’s cancer data research.

You'll also hear from our partners use MY data about what makes their PPIE work unique. Jo Gumbs (Executive Group Member, use MY Data) and Chris Carrigan (Data Adviser, use MY Data) will tell you about the many resources available and how their members can work with you directly to aid and influence your use of data.

Maximise the impact of data and research by joining us and asking your questions.
