Event description

Description

Learn how to build your own point-and-click text adventure games. Develop characters and storylines, based on real life or pure imagination. Then share your game with friends and family.

How Code Club works

We run monthly "clubs" where up to 30 kids can learn new skills and technologies, from web coding and programming, to electronics and manufacturing. No coding experience necessary. And no special equipment required.

Our clubs are always free, and always staffed by experienced, friendly, DBS/CRB-checked volunteers. We’re kindly hosted by Liverpool Libraries, and we’re part of the All About STEM network.

Who this is for

Our May session is ideal for kids aged 8–12 years – especially ones who’ve never done any programming before.

We’ll show them all the basics in the first hour, then after a short break, we’ll let them experiment with what they’ve learned, and build something amazing, either individually, or as part of a team.

What they’ll learn

Kids will learn how to use the online "Twine" storytelling tool to build interactive, nonlinear storylines, where they control every aspect of the narrative, including adding images and even conditional logic that alters the game as you play it.

We’ll start them off with a set storyline, but after the half-time break, we’ll set them free, building their own immersive interactive worlds.

How to book onto this event

It’s simple – just use the "Register" button on this page! There’s no payment – our events are always free.

Please note, you’ll only be registering for our May event. If you want your kid to attend our other 2019 events, you’ll need to register onto those events separately, by following the links below.
