COURSE INFO

Introduction to Buddhism – Practical wisdom for modern times

These days, many people are developing an interest in Buddhism and the Buddhist way of life, in part because of its practical approach to the problems we experience in our daily lives, and also because Buddhism is an open, flexible faith that may be practiced by anyone, regardless of their ethnicity or religious background.

Practicing Buddhist teachings (Dharma) is the supreme method for improving the quality of our lives because the quality of life depends not upon external development or material progress, but upon the inner development of peace and happiness.

Buddhism teaches us to take responsibility for ourselves, our actions, and the consequences of our actions. Through meditation we can follow the same path of inner transformation that Buddha followed and eventually attain a lasting inner peace and real power to benefit others.

This weekend course will give an introduction to basic Buddhist philosophy for those wishing to gain a deeper understanding of Buddhist wisdom and the practice of meditation. Topics covered will be meditation, inner peace, karma, past and future lives, loving kindness, compassion & wisdom.

The weekend consists of guided meditation, teachings, discussion with Q&A.
