Choose from two dates - Friday 25th November or Sunday 27th November - from 10am to 3pm each day.
Sunday is the Chelmsford town Christmas light switch on. Dress up on both days in festive costume and be an abseiling Santa, Elf or Reindeer, the choice is yours!
The abseil is organised by and is raising money for the Mayor of Chelmsford's charity partner, The J's Hospice and will be managed by Essex Outdoors.

The abseil is being held on two days - Friday 25th and Sunday 27th November - from 10am to 3pm each day. Choose the day you want to abseil when you select your ticket.
Do I have to raise sponsorship for the abseil?
To take part in the abseil, you need to raise a minimum sponsorship of £85 per adult and £30 per child aged 8 – 16 years. Every penny you raise will help care for young adults aged 16-40 years with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions in Essex. The J’s Hospice is a registered charity and we need to raise £923,000 in donations to deliver our services this year. This amounts to £2,704 a day, every day of the year.
Is there an age limit to enter the event?
Children from 8 years old can take part and there is no adult age limit! If you are concerned about being an older age and taking part, please seek advice from your doctor and contact Zoe Butler at The J's Hospice on 01245 407358 and email@example.com.
How fit do I need to be to take part?
A regular level of fitness is fine for the abseil. You will be climbing 40ft of stairs and will be assisted to climb over or step through 3ft high metal railings to access the abseil platform. You will be fully harnessed and wearing the safety equipment before you access the platform.
Can I wear fancy or festive dress?
We would love everyone to dress up in fancy or festive dress, which is optional, but we ask you to consider the practicality of the costume and an abseil harness, safety hat and abseil ropes. We recommend clothes/fancy dress that are safe and robust to abseil in. It will be Essex Outdoor’s decision on whether you can abseil in your costume and this is for your own safety.
What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
There is no parking at the event so please use Chelmsford's public car parks - the closest is the High Chelmer car park which is opposite Essex county Hall.
Where can I contact the organiser with any questions?
Contact Zoe Butler at The J's Hospice on 01245 407378 and firstname.lastname@example.org
Is my registration/ticket transferrable?
If you wish to transfer your place, you must contact Zoe Butler at The J's Hospice as we will need to have the new person's registration details, emergency contact details and send them the medical/consent form. It is at the discretion of The J's Hospice if a place can be transferred due to time limits prior to the event.
Can I update my registration information on Eventbrite?
No, but please contact Zoe Butler at The J's Hospice to update your registration information.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
This would be helpful but please don't worry if you forget your ticket, as you will still be able to take part!
