MBAN
Sing for your heart
An unforgettable afternoon of uplifting singing with Bruce Ncube.
Mban (meaning ‘sing’ in Kalanga) brings to you Zimbabwean songs and 3-6 part harmonies to lift you and your spirits in connection and the emotion of making these beautiful songs together. Bruce Ncube has visited and led many workshops in Edinburgh in years past, and we are delighted to have him return to share his special and unique blend of teaching his songs and developing confidence in each of the singers. If you’ve been before, you know what this left you with.
Bruce’s teaching style is traditional / oral; reminiscent of when people would gather around a fire in the evenings or whilst working in the fields and start weaving harmonies. Bruce's workshops are inclusive and participatory and one does not need to be experienced in singing to take part In them. Bruce has over 12 years’ experience of touring and teaching in the UK and much of his recent and current work involves major festivals such as WOMAD, African Drum Village, Drum Camp, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Edinburgh Mela, and many choirs, singing groups and schools across the country.
From 1.30-4.30 on Saturday 22nd November in Barclay Viewforth Church; in the Tollcross area, with the entrance at 1 Wright's Houses.
Access/travel – on-street parking is limited so public transport is advised with bus stops nearby on Bruntsfield Place. The hall overlooks Bruntsfield Links.
