Join us for a compelling guest lecture by Professor Ros Eeles, Professor of Oncogenetics at the Institute of Cancer Research and Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust.
🔬 About the Talk:
Prostate cancer has a significant genetic component, with studies suggesting up to 58% of predisposition may be inherited. Professor Eeles will explore the spectrum of genetic alterations—ranging from rare DNA repair gene mutations to common non-coding SNPs—that contribute to prostate cancer risk. She will also discuss how these genetic insights are being applied in targeted screening strategies, particularly in high-risk populations, including men of African ancestry.
📊 Highlights include findings from major international studies such as IMPACT, PROFILE, and BARCODE 1, which are shaping the future of personalized cancer screening.
This lecture is hosted by the Manchester Cancer Research Centre and the Cancer Research UK Manchester Institute. It’s a must-attend for researchers, clinicians, students, and anyone interested in the intersection of genetics and cancer prevention.
