'A tripartite approach for ending cancer as we know it'

Professor Knusden will discuss the latest efforts through the American Cancer Society to reduce the burden of cancer and enhance health equity through their tripartite approach of research, advocacy and patient support. Data discussed will offer opportunities for collaboration and partnership.

Speaker Bio

Karen E. Knudsen, MBA, PhD, is the Chief Executive Officer of the American Cancer Society (ACS) and its advocacy affiliate, the American Cancer Society Cancer Action NetworkSM (ACS CAN).

Dr Knudsen is highly active in oncology field, serving numerous national and international leadership roles. Dr Knudsen currently holds leadership roles with some of the most important cancer entities in the nation. She serves on the board of advisors for the National Cancer Institute and on 12 external advisory boards for NCI-designated cancer centers. She is an active member of several committees with the American Society for Clinical Oncology (ASCO), in addition to serving on other academic and for-profit advisory boards. She previously served as president of the Association of American Cancer Institutes (AACI), representing the 102 leading cancer centers in North America, and on the board of directors of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR).

Event Instructions

This event is intended as a face to face meeting with Zoom offered to anyone unable to be in Manchester on the day. Karen will be delivering her talk in-person from the Oglesby Cancer Research Building (OCRB).

We anticipate Karen's Lecture will take place between 15.30 - 16.30 and will then be followed by a drinks reception in the OCRB foyer from 16.30 for participants attending in person. Any change to the schedule will be communicated via email with registered attendees.
