About MDMC

The mission of the MDMC is to provide expert advice on manufacturing engineering, regulatory issues and funding, coupled with technically supported access to manufacturing facilities, to assist companies in the translation of medical device concepts in their journey to clinical trials. Services provided by the MDMC are free of charge to Scottish companies.

Headquartered at Heriot-Watt University, the MDMC is a consortium of 5 universities funded by Scottish Enterprise. The Centre offers medical device development and manufacture in Scotland, providing companies with an enabling step towards first-in-patient-studies.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get to the event?

We recommend travelling by public transport to the venue. Kelvinbridge Subway Station is a short walk away and there are several buses (3, 4, 4A and 15) that stop nearby.

Is there car parking available?

The two main car parks near the venue are Kelvinbridge Subway Park and Ride and Lilybank Car Park, which are a 10 minute walk away. For exhibitors and those with disabilities, there is limited parking near the venue (please email mdmc@hw.ac.uk for details).

Organised by

MDMC is delivered by a highly experienced inter-disciplinary team of engineers, scientists and clinicians from Heriot-Watt, Edinburgh, Robert Gordon and Glasgow Universities, all with excellent credentials in medical device development. The team operate a suite of advanced manufacturing equipment based at Heriot-Watt University, dedicated to supporting Scottish Companies with new product development and testing. MDMC services furthermore include advice on medical device regulation and funding sources.
