Event Details

ME YOU and THE SUPERBUGS is an annual public engagement event to raise awareness about antibiotic-resistant infections in Nigeria. Now in its second year, the conference will bring together non-scientists, scientists, and healthcare professionals from different sectors to provide an educative environment for stimulating discussions and presentations showcasing the exciting world of the superbugs.

With the continued rise in antibiotic-resistant infections, there is a need to increase knowledge about the dangers of misusing antibiotics and what everyone can do to reduce the spread of these types of infections. The workshops enhance learning in different ways to reduce the spread of antibiotic-resistant infections.

At present, antibiotic resistance is a global problem. And we all agree that more needs to be done to increase knowledge about this in Africa - hence the birth of the Me You and The Superbugs events. This year we have 3 events during World Antibiotic Awareness Week. Previous attendees have described the event as informative, fun and inspiring with lots of learning and career development opportunities.

2019 Workshops/ Demonstrations & Discussions will include:

  • How antibiotic resistance occurs
  • What 'me' and you can do to stop the spread of resistant infections
  • Insight into careers in science and research
  • Hands-on science workshop for the young ones
  • And More!!

You do not have to know any science to attend. As we use easy-to-understand demonstrations, presentations and more during the sessions.

It has been reported that Africa and Asia will bear over 90% of antibiotic resistant-related deaths by 2050. Therefore, we need to act now and increase knowledge about antibiotic resistance in Africa.

We can change our behaviour as users of antibiotics and ensure that antibiotics are still available when we need them.

ME, YOU - Everyone can do something to help.

The Time To Act is Now! Book your ticket here and put a reminder on your phone.
