Event description
Ever wondered about creating an area of meadow in your field, garden, church or local community land, - then this course is for you!

About this Event

During the day, you will learn the different methods and techniques for meadow creation such as scarifying, turf stripping and rotovating; plus cover different seeding techniques as well as the planting of established plug plants. You will explore how soil chemistry causes the establishment of specific plant communities and habitats. There will be an opportunity to discuss specific problems and issues, and to explore some practical solutions.

Under the expert guidance of David Dowding, you will also have an opportunity to put your new found or existing knowledge into practice and seed areas of the park with native wildflower species, creating a vitally important food source and habitat for pollinator species.

For those wishing to manage the meadow ongoingly, we have organised a Meadow Management course with David Dowding on Wednesday, September 25.

Please bring: a packed lunch, stout footwear, weather-appropriate clothing, notepad and pen

For event enquiries call 01473 890089.

Please note bookings are non-refundable unless Suffolk Wildlife Trust cancels due to exceptional circumstances.

Please note our events will go ahead in all weather unless we deem conditions to be unsafe in which case we will contact you.
