For many years, it has been known that looking at data over time (and in particular using SPC) informs better decision-making, focuses interventions effectively and evidences when improvement efforts are working.

However, this approach is still relatively rarely applied to data within the NHS and over the past 10 years, organisations who previously have used control charts have reverted to red, amber, green charts.

At these workshops we will start a dialogue looking at how we can collectively enable the NHS to make better use of data to improve patient care.

During the day, you will:

  • learn from academic experts Dr Tom Woodcock and Professor Mohammed Mohammed on the statistical rigour that underpins SPC
  • hear from organisations that have been on the journey from RAG to SPC
  • hear from clinicians, analysts and board members around the challenges and opportunities they face
  • learn what NHS Improvement has got planned to further the use of measurement for improvement and provide feedback on existing plans
  • contribute ideas via interactive voting and world café on what needs to be done to make measurement for improvement mainstream

At the event, we are aiming to create the largest ever wall of control charts. Please bring along A3 sized print outs of any control charts that you have created to post on the wall.

Register soon as spaces are limited and will go quickly.
