Overview

A practical guide to using the new Farm Biodiversity Scotland App for your Whole Farm Plan

Biodiversity audits are one of the five requirements of the new Whole Farm Plan (WFP), and all farmers and crofters receiving Basic Payments (BPS) must complete one by 2028.

In this webinar, we will look at the new Farm Biodiversity Scotland app and explore how mapping habitats and monitoring biodiversity can support decision making and build whole-farm resilience.

Join us on 9 February for the second in our 2026 series of interactive webinars on the different elements of Whole Farm Plans, this time focusing on the Biodiversity audit.

The Farm Biodiversity team from NatureScot will demonstrate how the app works, allowing farmers and crofters to create a habitat map and carry out simple assessments.

Monitoring biodiversity can help farmers and land managers plan how to protect, manage and enhance nature on their land, focusing on:

  • Habitat mapping
  • Basic condition assessments
  • Practical tips for farmers on building an audit that can count towards your WFP
  • Putting nature on an equal footing with productivity and emissions in farm decision-making

By knowing what habitats you have and their condition, you can plan management that supports biodiversity, soil health, climate resilience, and future funding eligibility.

Join us for an insightful and interactive session!
