Seminar 1 - Dr Jean Monro

Diagnosis and treatment of ME/CFS

Myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome/systemic exertion intolerance disease (ME/CFS/SEID) is a clinical syndrome of fatigue, which has been recognised by symptom scores. However, there is compelling evidence from the literature that there are biochemical, infectious, immune problems, dysautonomia, deranged tissue gases and heightened sensitivities in these patients.

In order to collate the references into a suitable structure, Professor Martin Pall’s template for the NO/ONOOˉ cycle has been taken as a basis and many results from investigations and published papers have been linked to specific components in this cycle.

This is something that he has already done in order to establish the validity of the cycle and it is the treatment aspects of this condition that are being emphasised here.

Seminar 2 - Matthew Hudson

What If The Mind Is Not The Brain

What if your Mind is not Your Brain? This is the question that Matt Hudson wants you to consider as you go through your day-to-day life. The impact of this question, if it is true, is far reaching and may hold the answer to many modern health and wellbeing issues. In the past few years Matt’s work has been documented and articulated into a training program, its roots are within the fields of linguistics, philosophy, cognitive science, quantum physics, ethology, psychology and education. The aim is to sort and not just support dis-ease. Did you ever wonder how your brain works? Why does your body react the way it does in certain contexts or situations? You probably already know that your mind is not your brain; so, the next logical step is for you to see this for yourself.

Seminar 3 - Dr Peter Julu

The Autonomic Nervous System and Chronic Fatigue

Seminar 4 - Dr Raymond Perrin

The Science Behind the Perrin Technique

In his lecture Dr Perrin will explain the basics of and the scientific basis behind The Perrin TechniqueTM, a manual system of diagnosis and treatment that has helped thousands of patients with CFS/ME since 1989.

The technique was developed because of a chance discovery during the clinical practice of Dr Raymond Perrin who will discuss how the latest neuroscientific discoveries help us understand CFS/ME and how it can be helped with specific manual techniques.

Dr Perrin will discuss the considerable evidence and more recently visible proof of a robust fluid drainage system and other findings that could be pivotal in the pathogenesis of CFS/ME.

These latest findings support the long held view of the author that CFS/ME is a disorder of the neuro-lymphatic drainage system leading to neurotoxic build up within the central nervous system and the ensuing cascade of many symptoms seen in CFS/ME.

Viewing CFS/ME as a neuro-lymphatic disorder leads to diagnostic findings with specific physical signs which aid in the early diagnosis of the disease. This hypothesis was supported by a blind controlled trial conducted last year by The University of Central Lancashire in conjunction with the NHS to explore the accuracy of these specific physical signs as an aid to diagnosing CFS/ME.

About the presenters:

Dr Jean Monro, Medical Director of Breakspear Medical

Dr Jean Monro is internationally known for her work in allergy and environmental medicine.

With a background in hospital general medicine, she worked at the National Hospital for Nervous Diseases, London, researching migraine and multiple sclerosis. She established the Breakspear Hospital for Allergy and Environmental Medicine in 1988. She was a Consultant at Fachkrankenhaus Nordfriesland, Germany, 1991 - 2009.

Dr Monro is a Fellow of the American Academy of Environmental Medicine and Principal Medical Advisor of the Environmental Medicine Foundation.

She has focused mainly on this specialist area and successfully treats a wide variety of conditions (food allergy, M.E., Lyme disease and multiple chemical sensitivity), testing for and addressing underlying infections and nutritional deficiencies, using low-dose immunotherapy as a foundation to rebuilding healthy immune systems.

She lectures regularly at international conferences and undertakes the training of doctors and others in environmental and nutritional medicine.

Matthew Hudson

Matt Hudson B.A. Ed. Hons - Behavioural Change Consultant, author and authority on how the mind actually works.

With over two decades of client work supporting his theories of how the mind influences the brain. Always educational, engaging and fun, Matt Hudson has a long history of success within the field of personal development. He has and still continues to push the boundaries of what is possible for a person’s health, intelligence and wellbeing.

His passion is unconscious communication and helping others to realise the message that their spirit is sending them via their body. Often the most unreachable and most hopeless cases are transformed into positive outcomes for clients and Matt has managed to distill his eclectic approach into a trainable program.

The Hudson Process© is the method used to read a person’s non-verbal communication as they associate into their problem and then to create a feedback loop, which transforms the brain chemistry, thus creating change at a neurological level that is fast, effective and long lasting.

Dr Peter Julu

Dr Peter Julu, Specialist Autonomic Neurophysiologist, is a leading expert in brainstem abnormalities in Rett Syndrome, and has a special interest in diabetic neuropathy and works at Breakspear Medical part-time in the Neuroscience Department. This department is the only facility in the whole of the European Union currently offering target organ orientated examination of the autonomic nervous system.

Dr Raymond Perrin D.O. PhD. Clinical Director.

Registered Osteopath, Neuroscientist and Specialist in Chronic Fatigue Syndrome CFS/ME

Dr Perrin qualified in 1984 from the British School of Osteopathy in London. Whilst at the BSO he spent 3 years working in the children’s clinic where he gained much experience treating all ages of children from new-born babies onwards.

He has also extensive experience treating top sportsmen and women including Olympic athletes. In 1991 he was appointed official osteopath to the World Student Games, Sheffield.

Dr Perrin’s research since 1989 into Chronic Fatigue Syndrome /ME has expanded our knowledge of the disease and how to diagnose treat it. In July 2005 he was awarded a doctorate by the University of Salford, UK for his thesis on the involvement of cerebrospinal fluid and lymphatic drainage in CFS/ME. Since 2007 he has held the academic post of Honorary Senior lecturer at the Allied Health Professions Research Unit, University of Central Lancashire, in Preston, UK. He was appointed member of the scientific committee for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th World Congress on Neurobiology and Psychopharmacology affiliated with the European Association of Psychiatrists Annual Conference, Greece.

He has lectured internationally and in the UK to CFS/ME patient groups and the medical profession on the Osteopathic diagnosis and treatment of CFS/ME. He has published papers in major medical journals and his best-selling book, The Perrin Technique: How to beat CFS/ME was published by Hammersmith Press, London in 2007.

For his service to osteopathy Dr Perrin was appointed a vice-patron of The British School of Osteopathy and was he was the winner of the inaugural Research and Practice Award from the Institute of Osteopathy in 2015.
