Medapply Virtual Medicine Work Experience
Event Information
About this Event
We are excited to announce that we will be running a FREE Virtual Medicine Work Experience Day on Saturday 13th March, 10 am - 3 pm, for students looking to apply to medical school. We understand that work experience has been hard to come by during the pandemic, so we hope to provide as much insight into the medical profession as possible through this event.
Itinerary
10 am - 12 noon: Insights of a Doctor
Our guest speakers, Dr Steph Ekins and Dr Zirva Khan will share their experiences of being a doctor and provide a day in the life overview of what their job constitutes. They will also share their experiences of adapting to the COVID-19 pandemic and shed some light on what their jobs involve. A panel discussion with questions from students will follow.
12 noon - 1 pm: Lunch Break
1 pm - 2:30 pm: Clinical Case Studies
Three mock clinical consultations performed by clinical students to illustrate how the qualities of a doctor are practised in a real-world scenario. This section will be highly useful for students to observe closely and reflect on what they have learnt.
2:30 pm - 3 pm: How to Reflect on Work Experience
We will finish off the day with a short talk from the Medapply team, outlining how exactly students can reflect what they have observed to write about this in their personal statements and speak about it in their interviews.
This event will also be useful for prospective dentists to observe as many of the skills required are the same.
Please note that Zoom links will be provided a few days prior to the event.
We look forward to seeing you all there!
