We are delighted to invite you to our Media Industry Day at 9am on Wednesday 13 April at the Brampton Road campus of the University of Cumbria.

This event is for students from any of our media courses and the theme of the event is around freelance working, employability and enterprise.

Event Programme

09.00am - Registration (Main Reception - Brampton Road Campus)

09.20am - Welcome and introduction to the day from Roddy Hunter, Director of the University of Cumbria Institute of the Arts.

09.30am - Catherine Morgan Wania and Sebastian Morgan – Blue Butterfly Media


10.15am - Richard Berry – Freelance Creative and Co-Founder of No Routes Found


10:50am - BREAK


11.00am - Max Evans-Kirkman – Freelance Cinematographer/Filmmaker and Photographer (alumni)


11.30am - Jacqui Hodgson – BBC Editor, Factual Programmes: North East and Cumbria


12.15pm - Finn H Drude – Freelance Filmmaker and Media Assistant at UoC (alumni)


1.00pm - Networking Lunch – The Vallum Gallery

An opportunity to network with UoC graduates and media professionals from a range of different businesses and creative areas, while enjoying a free lunch! This is your chance to meet the speakers and build your contacts. The current exhibition is ‘Comma’ (18+ advisory) which showcases cutting edge contemporary art produced by our graduate fine artists Elizabeth Cumming, Jacob Jones & Sara Sigursardottir.

2.30pm - Colin Aldred – Owner and Operator at Aerial Artwork


3.00pm - BREAK


3.10pm - Q & A Panel

Your chance to ask our panel of media experts your questions about working in media, freelancing and setting up a business. The Panel includes Thomas Burrows, Midmorning Producer at BBC Radio Cumbria as well as a selection of the speakers from earlier in the day


4.15pm - EVALUATION AND CLOSE
