Event description

Description

Sandpits and challenges are fundamental ways to win funding – but there is a lot of competition. This mini sandpit aims to give you the experience of participating in a Sandpit, learn the skills required to improve your chances of success and potentially provide support for one team to take their idea to the next level.

Objectives

To build relationships across the network in order to be able to collaborate effectively and generate research proposals that stand-out in a competitive environment. The programme aims to support early career researchers to become future leaders in their fields.

To share skills, techniques and develop mindsets that support collaboration

To identify research questions, shared ambitions and problems that the group are motivated to work on

To generate innovative ideas, evaluate them and build teams that will develop them

To prepare a pitch for an evaluation panel and present it for feedback

To agree next steps

Format

The session will be highly inter-active with lots of practical group activities, exercises and opportunities to get to know each other. No technical input but will be a provocation from a speaker.

Scope of the sandpit inquiry process This sandpit will take a wide focus around bio-medical imaging (and won’t necessarily be focused on specific diseases). It aims to look beyond current horizons to future needs and expand participants thinking about opportunities.
