When crisis becomes content: what’s real anymore?
As the world becomes increasingly saturated with images of protest, disaster and war, Mediated Realities is a new exhibition from the University of Salford Art Collection that challenges how we interpret and respond to crisis in the digital age. Through photography, print and film, the exhibition explores how world events are filtered through media, showcasing works from the University’s permanent collection alongside work by University staff. Featured artists include icons such as Richard Hamilton, Joe Tilson and Mishka Henner, alongside contemporary voices Thomson & Craighead, Sun Xun, Wu Yue and more. From corrupted data files to satellite views of oil fields, these works ask: What does it mean to truly witness in the 21st century?
Our launch event coincides with MA Art & Design Degree show: Reframe/Reflect, held in the New Adelphi Atrium at the same date/time.
