Have you ever wondered what being a doctor is really like? Are you thinking of applying to UCAS this year? If so, then this is the perfect course for you!

On this two-day course, held at a busy London hospital, you will get a chance to experience what medical practice involves, from doctors working in the NHS. Through project work, hands-on activities, lectures and simulated emergencies, you will learn about the fundamentals of clinical practice including managing a road traffic accident, intermediate resuscitation, drug development and reconstructing anatomy.

Content covered will include:

  • Taking a Clinical History
  • Life Support of Airway, Breathing and Circulation including stitching head wounds (suturing)
  • Medical Ethics from Gray’s Anatomy
  • Drug Development and Prescribing Skills
  • Solving real-life cases using the Dr House MD approach
  • Anatomy dissection of heart and lungs
  • X-Rays and ECG interpretation of increasing complexity
  • UKCAT and BMAT support

The course will also include protected time to discuss medical school applications, covering the cycle from Personal Statement to UKCAT, BMAT and Interviews (including Ethics). All relevant reading will be circulated in advance.
