Medication

Learning and Development

Our Medication course has been created to provide the most up to date training for the regulated Health and Social Care workforce. This training is mandatory for all Support Workers that are supporting individuals with their medication needs in any capacity. The course provides information on legislation, Care Inspectorate guidance and other relevant sector policy guidance, using a variety of different learning styles. This will improve knowledge, practice, safety and confidence for the support workers, who will then return to service for their competency assessments.

This course is aimed at anyone who is providing support to Individuals with their medication needs. Support Workers, and or others, must have a basic understanding of Medication and the legal framework that supports the administration of Medication before they can safely support someone. As an SQA Accredited centre attendees will receive a Medication Workbook mapped to the SVQ Level 2 and Level 3 in Health and Social Care (Adults) and can be used as a Product for evidence. All Trainers delivering the course are SVQ Assessors and can and will verify evidence.

Minimum number: 6

Maximum number: 16

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Understand legislation and good practice in relation to Medication
  • Understand basic drug knowledge
  • Demonstrate an understanding of consent and capacity
  • Understand Medication Management: prompting, assisting and administering medicines

This workshop will focus on experiential learning, involving group discussions, group work and exercises. Prior to attending the training, it is a requirement that you complete a pre course worksheet.

We are all working to provide the best outcomes for our Individuals and provide the right training for our workforce.
