Date: Thursday 26th February 2026 and Thursday 5th March 2026

Time: 9:30am - 4:30pm

**Please note you must be able to attend both dates. Delegates must be experienced in medication and in a senior care role (level 3 qualified). Any delegates booking onto this course who do not meet this criteria will have their booking cancelled and refunded (minus booking fee).

Aims

The aim of this training is to equip in-house trainers with the skills and confidence to design and deliver an effective interactive training session to enable their staff to gain the skills and knowledge to be able to administer medication safely and with dignity.

Objectives

By the end of the training, delegates will be able to:

  • Define what is meant by training and the benefits of this
  • Identify the key skills of an effective trainer and the trainers’ responsibilities
  • Describe different training methods and advantages / disadvantage of each
  • Explore each stage of the training cycle and start to identify how you will apply these to your role
  • Participate in training on safe administration of medication, to ensure that they are adhering to best practice and are current in their knowledge
  • Identify the next steps that they need to take to prepare to be able to deliver this training.

Each delegate will be provided with:

  1. A power-point, which they can base their training from and just adapt to the medication system that they use within their service
  2. A kit per service which will give them basic equipment to start their training with for the practical aspects of medication administration (e.g. syringes, spacers, medicine pots, medicine spoons etc)
