Event description

Description

Exacerbations of uncontrolled Asthma and COPD are responsible for a large percentage of hospital admissions in Brent and in the UK. The potential for complications that can arise in secondary care can be catastrophic for patients leading to an increased duration of stay or a more fatal outcome. These factors in turn have a huge cost implication on the NHS and impact the commissioning of other vital services.

Primary care is the prime area to target patients whose conditions are not optimally managed. GPs play a pivotal role in preventing the worsening of these conditions.

This session will include:

  • Introduction from the Medicines Optimisation team
  • COPD- differential diagnosis and ongoing management, and Spirometry interpretation by Dr Ian Stone
  • Respiratory Community Services: supported discharge, oxygen review and pulmonary rehabilitation by Maria Buxton

This training is open to all Brent GPs, practice nurses, and practice-based pharmacists.

Please book your place by Friday 20th April 2018.

If you have booked a place and then cannot make it, please let us know by emailing BRECCG.medicinesoptimisation@nhs.net as soon as you can so we can fill your space.

We look forward to seeing you there.
