Britain's experts on life Medieval will be revealing the tales, tunes and skills that got us through the Plantagenets...

 

Medieval Daze is a series of events in St Michael's Church and the Kingsbury Barn from 17th-21st September 2019, set to raise money for the maintenance of St Michael's Church, the building that gives the village its name.

PART 1:

 

MY LIFE AND TIMES IN MUSIC: WITH HARRY CHRISTOPHERS, FOUNDER OF THE SIXTEEN

Harry Christophers is the founder of The Sixteen, one of the leading choral groups heard on the BBC, Classic FM and Scala Radio, have given concerts from London to Shanghai, New York to the Sistine Chapel, and of course St Albans Cathedral.


Harry will be talking about his music, with excerpts from recordings, and will be interviewed by Sara Mohr-Pietsch who has written a biography on Harry and The Sixteen called A New Heaven.


The event will start at 19.30, tickets are £10 per head and £7.50 for members of the Friends of St Michael's and will be available at the door on a first come, first serve basis.

REMEMBERING KING ARTHUR: TALES FROM LOGRES

 

Date: Friday 20th September 2019

 

Time: 19.30

Sue Macmillan and Hannah McDowall entralled St Albans in 2018 with tales of Eleanor Longshanks. This year they will perform stories of ladies and knights who were the glory and downfall of Camelot.

 

These tales shaped the myths of England and helped craft what it means to be British - you can hear echoes in Game of Thrones, Lord of the Rings and Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
