Event description

Description

How exactly did medieval women exercise power? At our May colloquium we will be challenging the stereotypical image of medieval women as oppressed and subservient. From women in the church, holding positions of great responsibility as abbesses of convents, to those outside monastic walls, who could wield power as queens and regents or workers and wives. Join Dr Danielle Park, Dr Emma Cavell, Professor Caroline Barron and Charlotte Knight to discuss queens, Jewesses, women in towns and in the bedchamber.

If you have any queries or dietary requirements, please contact the Colloquium Coordinator Claire.Kennan@rhul.ac.uk
