Event description

Description

With Dr Peter Firth

Medieval records reflect primarily male activity. However, this autumn’s Heswall course (see CRN 21403/Hist 0141 for more details), challenges any misconception that medieval women were “written out of history”. With particular use of imagery, it embraces themes such as motherhood, marriage, mysticism, misogyny, queenship, virginity and piety, together with the achievements of prominent medieval women. This “taster” session introduces a more balanced picture of women’s role in society during the Middle-Ages.
