Description
In this 3 hour workshop we are offering an introduction to meditation and opportunities to learn how to grow your own vegetables and herbs at the ROSE Community Clubroom in Bettersea. The adults will first gather to practice a very simple form of meditation called "peaceful abiding" while the children will be playing in the outdoor "Geo-Den" and creating a mini landscape with our Green Community Champion, Sue.. We will all then share some smoothies and fresh juices, before getting our hands dirty potting up herb plants and sowing salad pots (which you are free to take home with you).
As an experienced meditation instructor and landscape gardener I have found that working with the earth naturally invokes a meditative state of mind. We feel that the combination of sitting meditation practice with gardening can provide an alternative approach to the mainstream perspectives of dealing with stress and anxiety.
The schedule for the event is as follows:
4pm - Arrival
4.30pm - Introduction to Meditation for Adults / Children's Outdoor Activities
5.30pm - Smoothies and wheatgrass juice for all
6pm - Make and take home your own herb and salad pots
7pm - End of event
The introduction to meditation will begin with a brief check in regarding participant's past experience. Please arrive on time to ensure we have a full 20 minute of silence for the group meditation session.
