Is the class suitable for beginners?

Absolutely! Complete beginners are very welcome...as are seasoned meditators. We have regular attendees as well as newcomers and every meditation is simple and well guided. You'll be taught how to meditate and guided through any difficulties you may find.

Do I need prior experience?

Accepted Answer

No prior experience is needed at all.  The class is designed to be welcoming for complete beginners as well as those who've meditated before. I'll guide you through each step,explain what to expect. You don't have to know how to breathe or 'clear your mind' - we learn everything together gently.

Question 3

Are there chairs or is it on the floor?

Comfy chairs are provided and most participants prefer these, but you are welcome to bring your own mat or cushion if you prefer sitting on the floor.

Question 4

What type of meditation will we practice?

All sorts! We usually begin the class with a grounding meditation and a body scan meditation to find tension within yourself and relax it. Then we do a different meditation each week - guided, unguided, movement, singing bowl, mantra, breathing, mindfulness, muscle relaxation and  contemplation.

I'm not good at meditating, can I still attend?

Of course! None of us are 'good' at meditating... & that's the whole point of doing it. We all struggle to sit still & quiet for lengths of time but the more we practice the easier it gets. We have longer & shorter meditations, some with movement & anyone can get up and move anytime they need to.

Is this religious?

Accepted Answer

No. We learn meditation techniques from all walks of life but this is an open-minded class which isn't associated with any particular religion.
