Meditation classes to reduce stress, relax, and develop mental peace
Modern life is hectic. As soon as we finish one job, another appears to take its place; our relationships feel strained, and we barely go one day without feeling stressed, worried or anxious.
Yet Buddha taught that happiness and peace depend upon our mind, and that, with the right methods, it is possible to enjoy inner peace even within the hustle and bustle of modern, busy life. In these meditation classes, we will discover how to develop such inner peace in meditation, and then how to maintain this in the face of our daily challenges. Suitable for complete beginners and experienced meditators alike, regardless of religion (or non-religion), age or background. Everybody welcome! Each class and course is self-contained, but also part of a five-week course. The classes will include time for meditation, teaching and discussion.
We will learn:
- The keys to successful meditation, taught by previous Buddhist masters
- Special methods for developing peaceful and positive states of mind in meditation, and for letting go of negative emotions
- Practical techniques for maintaining these positive minds in our daily life, even when things go wrong or become challenging
The Teacher: Thomas has over 15 years’ experience of meditation and study within the New Kadampa Tradition (NKT). He is known and respected for his skill in presenting meditation topics in a way that is joyful, practical and down to earth.
