Meditation is the art of breaking habits, to purify the mind and to take care of day to day things. (Yogi Bhajan)

As we meditate we work through the layers itchy, feelings,emotions, thoughts, for the mind to become clean and receptive. Meditation stops the mind,so you can surrender the mind to the soul and soul to the truth. We can develop the neutral mind which takes the finite self to the infinite self. Through this we start to break habits. Mind is the driver that can serve the soul, our body is the organic cellular animal that we can train, and the soul then is the passenger that can be asleep and needs awakening. This day is an elevating practise.
