It is generally advised to speak to your GP or therapist if you are currently being treated for mental health problems, to make sure that meditation is suitable for you at this point in time. Please also speak to Lesley before the session so that she is aware of any current physical or emotional difficulties that you are experiencing so that she can guide you on the most suitable practices.
Lesley MacDonald has worked in health care for 35 years and has years of experience delivering Stress Management courses both within the NHS and also for other organizations. Having had a personal meditation practice for over eighteen years and trained to teach Mindfulness with the Mindfulness Association, she has co-facilitated running the 8-week Mindfulness Course for NHS staff, for students at Queen Margaret University, and worked with psychologists and staff at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital, delivering the course for patients suffering from mental health conditions. She has also delivered Mindfulness training over a six year period as part of her role as Senior Occupational Therapist, Cardiac Rehabilitation Specialist, at the Astley Ainslie Hospital, Edinburgh. For the last two and a half years she been employed by The Thistle Foundation, Edinburgh, to deliver Mindfulness Training to individuals with long term conditions including Multiple Sclerosis, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, chronic pain or anxiety and depression.
