Meet Alan Gardner: The Autistic Gardener
Thu 30 March 2017, 18:30 – 19:30 BST
Celebrate World Autism Awareness Week by coming to a session with Alan Gardner, Channel 4’s Autistic Gardner, who will talk about his life, his passions and working with Autistic young people. Alan Gardner prides himself on being an award winning gardener having won medals at the UK’s major horticultural shows from Chelsea to Hampton Court. But he’s not your typical gardener because Alan is autistic…and he puts his success down to the condition.
‘The reason I think some people with autism can become such good gardeners is because we think differently,’ says Alan. ‘Our brain thinks in different ways…simple as that.’ Alan has just finished a new gardening programme in which he visits the USA.
