About this Event

Meet the candidates

  • Andrea Cooke (Ashford) is a healthcare professional in the NHS, specialising in practice education for operating theatres, mother of two and animal lover. ‘I want to see the referendum upheld and democracy delivered. This is why I am standing. I believe it is my moral duty to do so.’
  • Owen Prew (Canterbury), is a University of Oxford law graduate, and committed outdoor enthusiast. 'Every person has a voice and their voice matters. In a democracy everyone must have their voice respected at the Ballot box: that is our birthright and I will fight to defend the integrity of our democratic system.'
  • Evie Martin (Sittingbourne and Sheppey) is a small business owner and working Mum. ‘I want increased budgets for local schools and an end to three weeks’ wait for an NHS Doctor appointment. If elected to Parliament I shall strive to ensure that Britain takes back control of its laws, borders and waters.’
  • John Fitzpatrick (North Thanet) is an emeritus professor of law in the University of Kent, a leftist and a lifelong trade union activist. 'The continuing failure to implement the 2016 Referendum is the single most destructive development in domestic politics in modern times. We need to Leave the EU, and rebuild our democracy.'
  • Timothy Vince (South Thanet) has extensive commercial and charity management experience in the UK and the Middle East, has two children studying at UCL, and served as chair of school governors for SEN children. ‘The EU has assumed unaccountable powers without mandate. We must restore trust in politics; we must leave the EU.’
  • Tania Jackson (Gillingham and Rainham) has a degree in Environmental Biology from the University of Liverpool, and has two children. She has worked on a zero hours contract in fruit packing, been a care home manager, and is now an English teacher, including voluntarily with refugees. ‘I am standing because I believe passionately in democracy.’

Please come to hear what they have to say, ask questions and join the discussion. All welcome. Stay for a drink and a chat after the meeting in the celebrated Ballroom.

The event is free, but please donate whatever you can towards room hire / costs on the night
