Event description

Description

On Thursday 26th September Hunting Raven Books is hosting Meet by the Book – a free book-themed event for young(ish) people in or around Frome looking to make new connections.

If you’re a parent who feels isolated, a home-worker who feels lonely, a twenty-something not living your #BestLife come along and enjoy a laid-back evening of book-themed loveliness. There will be music (with the brilliant Ben Waller and the totally unique Otto Wilde), talks, food (courtesy of Events Horizon) and information about some of the ways you can meet people and become more involved in the fabric of Frome life.

Already on the line up are Mark Ecob, a Frome-based book cover designer who is going to talk about how he pulls together a cracking book jacket and the pitfalls of home-working, and Kerryn Alt who runs workshops in creative writing for wellbeing.

STOP PRESS!!! We are super-thrilled to announce that author Marianne Power wil be joining us to talk about her moving and funny book Help Me! How Self-help Has Not Changed My Life and generally be a ray of sunshine in the room.

To help take the agony out of the small talk (eurgh!) we are asking everyone to bring along a book as a conversation starter. It could be a book you love, a book you hate, a childhood favourite, or simply what you are reading at the moment. 'What book did you bring?' is a much better question than 'So, what do you do?'

Please note, there is no parking at the venue (except for Blue badge holders) and only limited on-street parking. There are a number of car parks in town (free after 6pm) within close walking distance of the Town Hall.

This event would not be possible without the kind support of Frome Town Council and the publisher Pan Macmillan.
